Why Is a Happy and Successful Life About More Than Money?

If you're unhappy in your job, it could be because you're on a path that doesn't allow you to pursue your passion. Perhaps you've locked yourself into a job because the pay is good. In the end, pursuing money over passion will not get you very far if you want to improve yourself.

Money has enormous power. It creates empires and demolishes kingdoms; it makes dreams come true while destroying others; it makes some people happy while making others completely miserable. Today, the pursuit of money is almost inextricably linked to the pursuit of happiness, with many arguing that money = happiness.

Although money is wonderful and can buy us all the things that make us happy for a short time, no amount of money can buy time[1]. Time is our most valuable asset, and we should use it wisely while we are on this planet. You should not feel as if you are squandering your life.

This generation is particularly vulnerable because jobs are scarce, and many of us will be forced to do jobs we despise simply to make ends meet. Although this may be the best decision for our careers at the time, it should not be something we do for the rest of our lives. It is best if you look for something that allows you to pursue your passion.

Reasons why life is about more than money and why you should pursue your passion:

1. You'll be more satisfied with your work.

Nothing is worse than having to get up every morning during the week to go do work you don't care about or that you don't believe adds anything to the world. However, if you choose to pursue your passion, you will be able to enjoy what you do. While the monetary reward may be lower, the internal rewards will compensate.

2. You'll Boost Your Creativity

One of the most draining experiences is being forced to work. While every job has times when you feel the work is draining and boring, when you are passionate about the work, you can push through the dull days because you know the next will likely bring something new and interesting.

When you follow your passion, it will greatly enhance your creative process. When you enjoy what you do, you are more likely to come up with creative ideas. This will not only make your life more interesting, but it will also make you better at what you do and will most likely lead to you moving up the ladder in the long run.

3. Work will not feel compelled

When you prioritize money over pursuing your passion, you will be trapped in a never-ending cycle of misery. Work will no longer feel like a journey or an adventure, but rather a taxing nuisance on your mind and body that must be completed. Of course, this will cause stress and anxiety.

Every day you go to work with this mindset, you grow to despise your job. While many people believe that they must work hard in order to retire and have enough money to enjoy themselves, what is the point of enjoying yourself in your later years if you spent some of your best years miserable?

Instead, follow your passion and watch how much work seems to flow naturally rather than you having to force things to happen.

4. You'll Have More Time to Relax

When you put in so many hours doing something you dislike just to make money, it will be difficult to overcome the stress that work causes. When you follow your passion and do something you enjoy, the weekend will feel like a time to relax and reset before returning to work on Monday.

All of this, of course, is beneficial to your long-term health because more relaxation means a healthier lifestyle overall.

5. You will most likely work fewer hours.

When you work at a job you enjoy, you will be able to focus more and complete tasks on time because the tasks will not feel as burdensome. When you're just working for money, motivation is more difficult to come by, which may necessitate working longer hours to get things done.

Every industry has a busy season, and you will undoubtedly need to work extra hours at some point. Will it be easier for you to work on something you can relate to or something you despise for a longer period of time?

6.You Will Go Above and Beyond

Certain responsibilities at work will necessitate going above and beyond the call of duty. During peak seasons, you may be asked to perform tasks that are not normally part of your daily routine. If you care about it, it will be much easier for you to put in the extra effort.

Because you are enthusiastic about your job, you will be willing to go above and beyond what is expected of you, which will make you feel good and attract the right kind of attention from your superiors.

7. You will not be stopped by any obstacle.

Nothing can stop you from completing your work if you follow your passion and enjoy what you do. Because you are passionate about what you do, you believe you are unstoppable and that nothing can stop you from achieving greatness.

Your passion fuels your work and, like a rocket, propels you past any roadblocks that may arise. Any obstacle that arises is accepted and overcome with a creative solution.

8. You Will Feel More Satisfied

There are few feelings more satisfying than achieving the level of success you set for yourself as you pursue your passion. When you finally reach the pinnacle, it is even more satisfying to know that you did so while doing something you enjoy and believe adds value to the world.
